Virtual servers for live telephony
Read case study +Close case study −- Challenge
- Physical Linux servers supported live telephony services. The provider needed to move them to a virtual platform with consistent setup, monitoring and recovery, while keeping calls running.
- Approach
- A virtual server platform was set up in the data centre and the physical servers were migrated to it. Server setup and configuration were automated. Backup and recovery were established, and wider monitoring gave the operations team a clearer view of the servers.
- Result
- More than 1,500 Linux servers were virtualised and operated with high availability to support live calls.
- Platforms and services
Gentoo Linux · VMware · Puppet · Nagios · SolarWinds
